Custom Window Treatments
A considered approach to window treatments
I approach window treatments as an integral part of the room, considering how they influence light, proportions, and atmosphere. I look at how natural light changes throughout the day, how fabrics relate to the interior palette, and how each room’s needs for privacy and light control shape the design.
I work primarily on full-home projects, guiding each one from the initial walkthrough to the final installation and working closely with my installation professionals to bring the design together.
How We Work Together
01 — In-Home Walkthrough
I begin by walking through your home with you, looking at each room’s architecture, proportions, existing furnishings, and natural light. This helps me understand your priorities and determine the right balance of aesthetics, privacy, and light control.
02 — Project Scope & Investment
I establish the scope of the project and discuss the level of investment involved. This gives us a clear understanding of the financial commitment before moving forward into design development.
03 — Design Development & Selection
With the project scope and investment established, I develop the design direction and guide the selection of window treatments, fabrics, materials, and operating systems. Each choice is considered in relation to the architecture, furnishings, and overall character of your home.
04 — Final Details & Installation
Once the design is finalized, I coordinate the technical details, including precise measurements, mounting positions, hardware finishes, and motorization where appropriate. I remain involved through fabrication and professional installation to ensure the finished window treatments come together as planned.
Curated Interiors
The same attention to detail extends beyond the window.
I offer additional design guidance in four areas to help bring light, furnishings, color, and finishing touches into harmony with your custom window treatments and the character of your home.
The Light Study — Daylight and evening light, considered as one system
I look at how daylight and artificial lighting work together, offering guidance on layering ambient, task, and accent lighting to support the room’s mood, function, and depth.
The Room Edit — Making the most of what you already own
I offer guidance on furniture placement, scale, and flow, helping the room work in harmony with its windows, light, and architecture.
The Home Palette — Connecting color, materials, and textiles
I help bring together colors, fabrics, textures, and soft furnishings so the window treatments feel naturally connected to the rest of the interior.
The Finishing Layer — Bringing the room together
I help select and place art, decorative objects, accessories, and rugs to complete the room once the window treatments and primary elements are in place.
