One Room, Two Directions - Soft Light vs. Natural Texture
I wanted to share one of the design concepts I’ve been working on — exploring how the same room can take on two very different stories, depending on how the windows are treated.
Window treatments change the way a room feels, how the light moves through it, and ultimately, how we experience the space around us.
Take this dining room.
Here, the windows feel calm and luminous. The shades sit quietly within the architecture, softening the light while keeping the room open, airy, and composed.
Now, a different direction:
The room is the same. The light is the same. But the natural weave introduces warmth, texture, and a more grounded connection to the outdoors. The atmosphere becomes more intimate and tactile.
Two directions. Two different experiences.
And that is what I find so compelling about window treatments. They are not simply something we put on a window. They can change the way a room feels, how the light moves through it, and ultimately, how we experience the space around us.
Which direction feels more like home to you?
This is the part of my work I love most — discovering what a room can become when its windows are considered as an essential part of the design.
